Ocotlan de Morelos is LibrosParaPueblos' largest library serving over 600 children. It is situated on the central plaza of this large market town located about thirty miles south of the capital on the highway to Pochutla. Ocotlan was the home of Rodolfo Morales, the famous Oaxacan painter, until a few years ago when he died of pancreatic cancer. People that live in Ocotlan are particularly proud of all the artistic talent in the townspeople, young as well as adults. The area is well known for many types of artisanry. The drawings and illustrations in the books donated by LibrosParaPueblos are an inspiration to new artists who are following in the footsteps of their parents. |
